W&L MEN'S SOCCER PICKED FOURTH IN ODAC PRESEASON POLL
SALEM, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) released its men's soccer preseason coaches poll on Monday and Washington and Lee was picked fourth among the conference's 10 teams.
W&L earned 59 points, while defending champion Roanoke garnered the top spot in the poll with 99 points and nine first place votes. Virginia Wesleyan (88 points, one first place vote) placed second and Lynchburg earned 61 points to round out the top three teams.
The Generals return three of their top five scorers from last season, including sophomore Jack Palmer (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown). Palmer finished third on the team with eight points on four goals.
W&L opens up the 2005 season against Sewanee at the SAS Complex in Cary, N.C., on Friday, September 9. The game is slated to begin at 8:00 pm.
