LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee athletic director Mike Walsh has announced the promotion of Josh Williamson from Assistant Athletic Trainer to Associate Athletic Trainer. Williamson moves to the position after Heather Grant was promoted from Associate Athletic Trainer to Head Athletic Trainer.
"Josh has made a wonderful contribution to our athletics training staff and I am pleased to be able to offer him this promotion," said Walsh. "We are very proud of the professionalism and expertise of all of our athletics trainers."
Williamson arrived at W&L last August after serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at DePauw University during the 2003-04 school year. He also assisted the training staffs at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (2001-03) and Indiana State University (2000-03), where he earned both a bachelor of science (2003) and master of science (2004).
"I'm excited to be in a new position and I am very much looking forward to the new year and the additional responsibilities associated with the promotion," said Williamson. "I'm thankful for the opportunity and anxious to get started."
Williamson is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA), Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers Association and the Virginia Athletic Trainers Association. He is certified by the NATA, the American Heart Association (CPR & First Aid) and the American Sports Education Program.
"I am excited about Josh's promotion to the Associate Athletic Trainer position," stated Grant. "He has been a hard working and energetic member of the athletic training staff for the past year and I look forward to the upcoming school year with him in this new role."
