LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee seniors Amanda Strickler (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) and Rachel Wallick (Phoenix, Md./Notre Dame Prep) have both been named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA)/US Lacrosse Division III All-America teams which were announced on Tuesday. Strickler was a second team selection, while Wallick garnered third team recognition.
An attacker, Strickler adds the honor to a list which already includes ODAC and Virginia College Division Player of the Year laurels and First Team All-ODAC, First Team All-State and First Team All-Chesapeake Region accolades. Also a North-South All-Star, Stickler led the team in scoring with 67 points on 26 goals and a team-high 41 assists. Her 41 assists were the third-most in a season in W&L history, while her 67 points were the fourth-most in a season. She played in 74 career games with 61 starts and finished with 170 points on 84 goals and 86 assists. Her 86 assists rank second all-time at W&L and her 170 points are fifth all-time.
Wallick, a First Team All-ODAC, First Team All-State and First Team All-Chesapeake Region pick as a defender, tallied eight points on six goals and two assists this spring. She led the team with 30 caused turnovers and tied for fourth with 36 ground balls. She keyed a W&L defense that led the ODAC and ranked sixth in the nation in scoring defense (6.50 gpg). Wallick, who earned First Team All-ODAC and Second Team All-Region accolades as a junior, was also named to the roster for the North-South Senior All-Star game. She started 75 games in her career and notched 28 points on 23 goals and five assists.
W&L finished the season with a school-record 16-4 overall mark (8-0 ODAC), a No. 10 national ranking, its’ fourth consecutive ODAC Championship and fourth straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament where it advanced to the second round.
