LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee riding team has qualified a program-best five riders for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone IV Championships to be held on April 9 at Sweet Briar College. Additionally, senior Caitlin Lane (Leesburg, Va./Poolesville) automatically qualified for the IHSA National Championships as the region's high-point rider and Cacchione Cup National Championship representative.

Looking to join Lane at nationals by winning their events at zones will be senior Sarah Murray (Spring, Texas/Klein), junior Brittany Bansak (Redding, Conn./Joel Barlow), and sophomores Karen Klein (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) and Alice Shih (Austin, Texas/Westwood). Murray will compete in the novice fences, Bansak will compete in the novice flat, Klein will participate in the walk-trot-canter, and Shih will take part in the walk-trot. Lane will compete in the open fences and open flat events.

Lane, the 2005 IHSA Zone Champion in the open flat, will be competing at the IHSA National Championships for the fourth straight year.

The IHSA National Championships will be held on May 4-7 in Harrisburg, Pa.
