SALEM, Va. -- Sophomore forward Greg Bienemann (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) was named to the Honorable Mention All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference men's basketball team which was announced at the conference tournament banquet held Friday evening.
The 6-foot-7 Bienemann led the Generals in scoring (12.1 ppg), rebounding (6.6 rpg) and blocks (0.87 bpg) and finished second on the squad in field goal percentage (.532).
Bienemann posted double-figure scoring efforts 14 times and had four double-doubles. He scored a career-high 33 points in a 98-92 win over Guilford on Dec. 7, and had 18 points and a career-high 15 rebounds in a 98-86 loss at Eastern Mennonite on Jan. 11.
Bienemann also led the team in scoring as a freshman, averaging 11.6 points and 4.4 rebounds.
Virginia Wesleyan junior forward Brandon Adair was named the conference player of the year, while the Marlins' David Macedo was selected the coach of the year. Randolph-Macon guard David Carlson was tabbed the freshman of the year and Bridgewater senior forward Clay Michael garnered the scholar-athlete of the year.
W&L finished the 2005-06 season with a 4-19 overall record and a 4-14 record in the ODAC. However, the Generals played a competitive brand of basketball that saw them drop seven games by six points or less.
