W&L WOMEN'S TRACK PICKED THIRD, MEN TIED FOR FOURTH IN ODAC PRESEASON POLL

SALEM, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) released its indoor track & field preseason poll on Thursday and the Washington and Lee women's team was picked third, while the men's team was tied for fourth among the six teams in the conference.

The women's team received 24 points to place third. Three-time defending conference champion Lynchburg (32 points, four first place votes) and Roanoke (30 points, two first place votes) garnered the top two spots.

The men's team earned 17 points to tie Roanoke for the number four spot. The top three teams are eight-time defending conference champion Lynchburg (34 points, five first place votes), Bridgewater (26 points), and Eastern Mennonite (24 points, one first place vote).

The W&L women finished fourth at the 2004-05 ODAC Indoor Track & Field Championships, while the men placed fifth. At last year's meet, junior Blair Haws (Fort Worth, Texas/Trinity Valley) earned All-ODAC honors by placing second in the 1,500 meters in a time of 5:04.60. For the men, sophomores Jack Jeong (Lisle, Ill./Naperville North), Alex Mahoney (New Trier, Ill./New Trier/Singapore American School), and Steve Rivoir (Scottsdale, Ariz./Chaparall) return after earning All-ODAC accolades in the distance medley relay which finished second in a time of 10:58.95.

Washington and Lee opens up the season on Sat., Dec. 3 at the VMI Invitational. The meet begins at 10:00 am.
