W&L'S LOTT NAMED TO ALL-STATE SOCCER TEAM

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee senior defender Derrick Lott (Knoxville, Tenn./Knoxville Catholic) has been named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) College Division All-State Men's Soccer Team which was announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Lott garnered second team accolades after also being named First Team All-ODAC and First Team All-South Region earlier this fall. He spearheaded a W&L defensive unit which allowed an average of just 1.20 goals per game with three shutouts. A starter in 14 contests, Lott scored one goal during the 2005 season and finished his career with 11 points on three goals and five assists.

Randolph-Macon goalkeeper Nick Warner was named the VaSID Player of the Year, while Virginia Wesleyan's Sonny Travis was selected as the Coach of the Year.

Washington and Lee completed the 2005 season with a 9-6-2 overall record and a 5-2-2 mark in the ODAC. The Generals advanced to the ODAC Tournament Semifinals before falling to eventual runner-up Eastern Mennonite, 2-1.
