DELAWARE, Ohio -- Washington and Lee senior defender Roger Morschesier (Orlando, Fla./Edgewater) was named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine College Division Academic All-District III Men's Soccer team which was announced recently. Morscheiser earned first team honors.
Morscheiser, an economics and philosophy major, was a key member of the Generals' defense that ranked fourth in the ODAC in scoring defense (1.29 gpg) and posted three shutouts. He also recorded three points on one goal and one assist in garnering Honorable Mention All-ODAC accolades. Morscheiser finished his career with eight points on three goals and two assists.
The Generals, who lost to Eastern Mennonite in the semifinals of the ODAC Tournament, concluded the season with a 9-6-2 overall record and a 5-2-2 mark in the ODAC.
With his first team selection, Morschesier will now go on to the national ballot where he could earn Academic All-America honors.
The criteria for the CoSIDA Academic All-District program states that a player must be of sophomore academic standing, be a starter or important reserve, and claim a GPA of at least a 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. Washington and Lee is a member of District III, which includes players from small colleges in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.
