LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee freshman running back Stuart Sitterson (Atlanta, Ga./Westminster) has been named to the D3Football.com First Team All-America squad as a return specialist.
Sitterson played in all 10 games for the Generals, notching 1,185 yards and nine total touchdowns. He was also named VaSID First Team All-State and D3Football.com First Team All-South Region as a return specialist during the season.
He returned 12 kickoffs for 408 yards and two touchdowns, and also returned 31 punts for 383 yards and another score. Sitterson ranked No. 1 in Division III in kickoff return average (34.0 ypr.) and 29th in Division III in punt return average (12.4 ypr.). Additionally, his two kickoff returns for a touchdown and punt return for a touchdown both tied school records for a season. As a running back, Sitterson amassed 296 yards and six touchdowns on 73 carries. He also caught 15 passes for 98 yards.
Sitterson is just the second General to be named to the website's All-America team, joining Mat Rapoza '03, who was also a first team selection in 2001.
Washington and Lee finished the 2005 season with a 7-3 overall record and a 4-2 mark in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The Generals posted their highest win total in 20 years and tied for second in the ODAC standings.
