W&L WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL RANKED FIRST IN ODAC PRESEASON POLL
LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) released its women's volleyball preseason poll on Tuesday and Washington and Lee earned the top spot among the conference's 12 teams.
W&L, the three-time defending ODAC tournament champions, received 141 points and 10 of the 12 first place votes. Bridgewater garnered the second spot with 123 points. Randolph-Macon rounded out the top three with 120 points and received the other two first place votes.
The Generals had an overall record of 35-4 and a perfect 11-0 mark in the ODAC last season. W&L advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season before falling to Emory University, 3-0.
The Generals enter 2004 with five returning starters from last season and have three-time ODAC Coach of the Year Bryan Snyder at the reigns. W&L is also riding a 31-match winning streak against ODAC foes.
W&L opens up the 2004 season against Catholic University in the opening round of the Washington and Lee Invitational on Friday, September 10th. The match begins at 4:00 pm.
