LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee Athletic Director Mike Walsh has announced the appointment of Josh Williamson as assistant athletic trainer.  He begins his appointment immediately.

"We are very pleased to have Josh Williamson join our athletic training staff," said Walsh.  "Our students will benefit greatly from his experience and committment to the health and safety of intercollegiate athletes."

"I'm very much looking forward to working with the Washington and Lee athletics staff, coaches and athletes," said Williamson.  "I'm anxious to get the season underway and I hope that I have a lot to offer the University and its' athletes."

Williamson comes to W&L after serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at DePauw University during the 2003-04 school year, where he worked with numerous sports, was a teaching assistant and supervised the student athletic trainers.

Prior to his experience at DePauw, Williamson assisted the training staffs at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (2001-03) and Indiana State University (2000-03).

Williamson earned a bachelor of science degree in athletic training from Indiana State in 2003 and is currently completing a master of science degree in athletic training from ISU.  He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA), Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association, Indiana Athletic Trainers Association and the Illinois Athletic Trainers Association.  He is certified by the NATA, the American Heart Association (CPR & First Aid) and the American Sports Education Program.
