KOCH AND MOLINELLI NAMED TO ALL-STATE MEN'S LACROSSE TEAM
ASHLAND, Va. -- Washington and Lee seniors Eric Koch (Boonton Township, N.J./Mountain Lakes) and Gavin Molinelli (Northport, N.Y./Northport) have both been named to the inaugural Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) College Division All-State Men's Lacrosse team which was released on Wednesday afternoon. Koch was named to the first team, while Molinelli was a second team selection.
A defenseman, Koch adds the honor to a list which includes First Team All-ODAC and Honorable Mention All-America accolades. He scored one goal and picked up 21 ground balls this spring. For his career, Koch played in 51 games, tallying two goals and collecting 71 ground balls. More importantly, he was a mainstay on a W&L defensive squad that has consistently ranked among the top in Division III in scoring defense during his career.
An attackman, Molinelli is a two-time First Team All-ODAC and Honorable Mention All-American. He led the team in scoring with 32 points on 15 goals and 17 assists in 2005 and finished his career ranked ranked sixth all-time with 93 assists and 13th all-time with 159 points.
Roanoke junior goalie Matt Madalon was named the Virginia Player of the Year, while Roanoke Coach Bill Pilat and Lynchburg Coach Steve Koudelka were named Co-Coaches of the Year.
Washington and Lee finished its 2005 season with a 9-5 overall record, 4-2 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
