BALTIMORE, Md. -- The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) announced its 2005 Scholar All-America team and Washington and Lee claimed one of the 37 members on the team in senior attackman Gavin Molinelli (Northport, N.Y./Northport).

The award recognizes senior lacrosse players that have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher and have been named to one All-America team or have been chosen to participate in the North-South Senior All-Star game. The players, from Division I, II and III schools, were honored at the annual Lacrosse All-American dinner on June 10 at Cortland State University.

Molinelli, an economics major with a 3.340 cumulative GPA, is a two-time USILA Honorable Mention All-American and a three-time All-ODAC selection. He also participated in the USILA North-South game played on June 11, leading the south team with three goals and one assist.

Molinelli led the Generals in scoring during the 2005 season, compiling 32 points on 15 goals and 17 assists. He ended his career ranked ranked sixth all-time at W&L with 93 assists and 13th all-time with 159 points.

Washington and Lee finished its 2005 season with a 9-5 overall record, 4-2 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
