BALTIMORE, Md. -- Two members of the Washington and Lee men’s lacrosse team have been named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III All-America team which was announced on Monday afternoon.
Seniors Gavin Molinelli (Northport, N.Y./Northport) and Eric Koch (Boonton Township, N.J./Mountain Lakes) were both selected to the honorable mention team.
An attackman, Molinelli was named to the honorable mention squad for the second straight season after leading the team in scoring with 32 points on 15 goals and 17 assists. A two-time First Team All-ODAC selection, he finishes his career ranked ranked sixth all-time with 93 assists and 13th all-time with 159 points.
A defenseman, Koch was selected to the All-America team for the first time in his career. A First Team All-ODAC selection, he scored one goal and picked up 21 ground balls this spring. For his career, Koch played in 51 games, tallying two goals and collecting 71 ground balls. More importantly, he was a mainstay on a W&L defensive squad that has consistently ranked among the top in Division III in scoring defense during his career.
W&L’s two selections to the All-America team marked the 16th straight year that the Generals have claimed at least an Honorable Mention All-American in a season.
Washington and Lee finished its 2005 season with a 9-5 overall record, 4-2 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.
