W&L WOMEN'S LACROSSE SITS ATOP ODAC PRESEASON POLL
LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) released its women's lacrosse preseason poll on Tuesday and Washington and Lee was picked first among the nine conference teams.
The Generals, two-time defending ODAC Champions, received 71 points and seven first place votes. Virginia Wesleyan, last season's runner-up, is second with 57 points and Roanoke is third with 56 points.
W&L returns 21 letterwinners, including senior midfielder Kitt Murphy (New York, N.Y./St. Catherines), a two-time First Team All-ODAC selection.
Last year, the Generals went 15-4 overall and 7-1 in the ODAC. The Generals defeated Virginia Wesleyan, 11-9, in the ODAC Championship game, before falling to Gettysburg, 13-8, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
W&L is currently ranked 16th in Division III and has a 1-1 record in 2005.
