LEXINGTON, Va. -- The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division III Poll was released on Tuesday afternoon and the Washington and Lee baseball team is ranked 29th with a total of 25 points. This is the first time the Generals have ever been ranked and they are also ranked fifth in the NCAA South Region.
On the national level, Rowan University sits atop the poll with 240 points. The rest of the top five are Chapman University (227), University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (218), the College of Wooster (206) and Trinity (Conn.) College (204).
In the South Region, Methodist (N.C.) College is first and is followed by the University of Mary Washington, Salisbury (Md.) University, York (Pa.) College and Washington and Lee.
W&L is currently 22-5 overall and 9-3 in the ODAC. With six more wins, the Generals will tie the school-record of 28 victories set during the 2003 season.
W&L returns to the diamond on Wednesday when it hosts Bridgewater. The game begins at 3:00 pm.
