W&L PLACES TWO ON ALL-STATE WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM
FERRUM, Va. -- Washington and Lee senior defender Kelley Zagol (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) and sophomore forward Anne Wiltshire (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) were both named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID) College Division All-State Women's Soccer Team, which was announced Tuesday afternoon. Both Zagol and Wiltshire were first team selections.
Zagol garnered First Team accolades for the second straight season after being named First Team All-ODAC and Second Team All-South earlier this season. A 2003 NSCAA Second Team All-American, Zagol posted a career-high 14 points on six goals and two assists during the 2004 season. She also captained a defense which allowed an average of just 0.71 goals per game and tied a school record with 10 shutouts.
Wiltshire was named to the all-state team for the first time after receiving First Team All-ODAC and Third Team All-South honors in 2004. She led the Generals in scoring with 35 points on a team-high 15 goals and five assists. After just two seasons of play, Wiltshire already ranks sixth all-time at W&L in both points (68) and goals (28).
Washington and Lee finished the season with a 12-4-3 overall record and an 8-2-1 mark in the ODAC. Its' season ended with a 1-0 loss to Lynchburg in the ODAC Championship Game.
