LEXINGTON, Va. -- Drew Baur, Co-Owner and Secretary/Treasurer of the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Club, will be holding an open discussion on the economics of baseball at Washington and Lee University on Mon, Nov. 8 at 7:30 pm. The discussion will be held at the Williams School in Room 327 and will be open to the general public.
Baur, a 1966 Washington and Lee graduate, will be visiting the University from November 7-9 as part of the Executive and Residence program co-sponsored by the Williams School of Commerce and the W&L Athletics Department.
During his visit, Baur will actively participate in two Washington and Lee academic classes. On Monday, he will be part of a Management 350 class with W&L Professor Bob Culpepper '66, '69L, which will discuss "Negotiations and Dispute Resolution in Business". On Tuesday, he will take part in Professor Kip Pirkle's Managment 375 class which will involve a Harvard Business School case study entitled "San Francisco Giants". The study will explore the Giants plan to promote the club, including the financing of SBC Park, formerly known as Pac Bell Park.
Baur and partners purchased the Cardinals in 1997 and have seen their efforts culminate in a National League Championship and a World Series appearance in 2004.
Baur purchased the Southwest Bank of St. Louis in 1984 and has served as the bank's Chairman of the Board since 2002.
