THREE GENERALS NAMED TO ALL-ODAC MEN'S SOCCER TEAM
SALEM, Va. -- Three members of the Washington and Lee men's soccer team were honored as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced its' all-conference team on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior defender Peter Miller (Towson, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) and senior midfielder Brian Pirkle (Lexington, Va./Woodberry Forest) were both named to the first team, while senior midfielder Justin Mygatt (Marietta, Ga./Woodward Academy) was named to the honorable mention squad.
Miller earned first team honors for the second straight season after captaining a defense which allowed an average of just 1.48 goals per game. A starter in all 16 games, Miller also added seven points on one goal and five assists. A Second Team All-South Region selection in 2003, Miller finished his career with three goals and seven assists.
Pirkle, a second team selection in 2003, earned first team accolades after leading the team in scoring with 17 points on six goals and five assists. A Third Team All-South Region honoree last season, Pirkle finished his career ranked in the Top 10 all-time at W&L in goals (23), assists (14) and points (60).
Mygatt was named All-ODAC for the first time during his career. Like Miller, Mygatt was a team captain in 2004, starting 15 games and finishing second on the team in scoring with 13 points on five goals and three assists. He finished his career with 32 points on 13 goals and six assists.
Washington and Lee finished the 2004 season with a 6-7-3 overall record, 3-3-3 in the ODAC. The season ended with a 3-1 loss to Guilford in the ODAC Tournament.
