NORFOLK, Va. -- Washington and Lee senior outside hitter Emily Wolfing (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) and senior libero Jennifer Lux (Virginia Beach, Va./Cox) were named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District III Volleyball Team which was released on Thursday afternoon.
Wolfing, a physics and mathematics major with a 3.76 cumulative grade-point average, was placed on the six-player first team and will be eligible for Academic All-America honors. A two-time First Team All-ODAC and ODAC Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Wolfing has recorded 425 kills, 368 digs, 53 blocks and 52 service aces this season. For her career, she ranks first all-time with 1,513 digs and second all-time in kills (1,461) and games played (464).
Lux, a journalism and sociology major with a 3.64 GPA was placed on the third team. She leads the team with 436 digs and 59 service aces this season, and ranks third all-time in digs (1,472), fourth all-time in assists (1,896) and first all-time in games played (472). Lux was the 2001 ODAC Rookie of the Year and a Second Team All-State selection that season.
Together, Wolfing a Lux have combined to lead the Generals to a 124-24 (.838) overall record during their four seasons. They have won four ODAC Championships and advanced to four NCAA Tournaments while posting a perfect 51-0 mark in ODAC play.
The criteria for the CoSIDA Academic All-District program states that a player must be of sophomore academic standing, be a starter or important reserve and claim a GPA of at-least 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. Washington and Lee is a member of District III, including players from small colleges in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.
