LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee Athletic Director Mike Walsh has announced the appointments of Heather Grant and Jason Vereb as Assistant Athletic Trainers. Both Grant and Vereb begin their appointments immediately.
"We are pleased to have both Heather and Jason join our athletic training staff," said Walsh. "They come to us from very reputable schools, have excellent first-hand training experience, and will provide a high standard of care for our intercollegiate athletes."
Grant comes to Washington and Lee from the University of Richmond, where she served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer since August of 2000, working with the men's soccer and swimming programs.
"I'm very excited to have the opportunity to work with the W&L athletes, coaches and administrators," said Grant. "I am looking forward to expanding my knowledge of the profession and working with the W&L community."
A 1999 graduate of James Madison University with a bachelor of science in health sciences, Grant served as a student assistant trainer at JMU for three years before obtaining a master's degree in athletic training from the University of Virginia in 2000. While completing the master's program, she served as a graduate assistant trainer at Virginia Military Institute during the 1999-2000 school year.
Grant is certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association and is a member of the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers' Association and the Eastern Athletic Trainers Association.
Vereb is a 2001 graduate of Indiana University with a bachelor of science degree in kinesiology and an emphasis in athletic training. While at IU, Vereb assisted the training staff with numerous sports and served as an athletic training lab instructor.
"This is a great new opportunity for me for me to work with some fine athletes and live in another part of the country," said Vereb. "I am looking forward to being part of the athletic training staff and working with the athletes and teams."
Vereb is a certified athletic trainer and a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association.
"I'm really excited to have Heather and Jason on board," said W&L Head Athletic Trainer Holly Snyder. "They are both energetic and enthusiastic about this opportunity as we look forward to another great year of W&L athletics."
