LEXINGTON, Va. -- Six members of the Washington and Lee women's swimming team received All-ODAC honors for their performances this season as announced on Monday afternoon.
Senior co-captains Kelli Austin (Niles, Mich/Niles) and Blair Huffman (Roanoke, Va./North Cross) were joined by junior Mandi Kimble (Greensboro, N.C./Greensboro Day School), sophomore Eleanor Williams (Metairie, La./Isidore Newman) and freshmen Kristine Holda (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville) and Beth Sauer (Reistertown, Md./McDonogh).
Austin and Huffman both earned all-conference laurels for the fourth consecutive season. In the ODAC/Atlantic States Championship swim meet, Austin touched second in the 200-yard freestyle in a lifetime-best time of 1:59.49 and third in the 100 (55.67) and 500 free (5:34.16). Huffman, who was the Atlantic States Swimmer of the Year following her sophomore and junior seasons, had team-best times in five events this season. Her times in the 200 breast (2:35.85), 100 (1:03.57) and 200 fly (2:14.61), and 200 (2:15.59) and 400 IM (4:45.11) were all tops on the squad.
Kimble was honored for the third straight year. A well-rounded swimmer, she had the fastest touches on the team in the 100- (1:04.18) and 200-yard backstroke (2:18.52) this season. She also had the second-fastest touch in the 200 IM (2:20.01) and third-best times in the 200 (2:04.91) and 1000 free (11:55.54).
A repeat selection, Williams had fourth-, fifth- and seventh-place finishes at the ODAC Championships in the 200 back (2:20.01), 100 fly (1:07.22) and 100 back (1:05.81), respectively.
Holda had a second-place time of 54.82 in the 100 free at the ODAC Championships, as well as third-place finishes in both the 50 (25.55) and 200 free (1:59.56), while Sauer won the 100 breast (1:13.63) and finished second in the 200 breast (2:38.11).
The Generals concluded their season with their 10th consecutive ODAC Championship on Sun., Feb. 23. They went 9-4 overall and 3-1 in the ODAC.
