CUNNINGHAM NAMED VaSID COLLEGE DIVISION COACH OF THE YEAR

FERRUM, Va. -- The Virginia Sports Information Director's Association announced its College Division Women's Soccer All-State team on Wednesday afternoon.

Washington and Lee Head Coach Neil Cunningham was named the VaSID Coach of the Year, while freshman midfielder Gina Von Sternberg (Houston, Texas/Episcopal) earned First Team All-State honors. Junior defender Meghan Hayde (Massapequa, N.Y./St. Anthony's) earned honorable mention accolades.

Cunningham guided the Generals to a 17-2-3 overall record, an ODAC Championship and a berth to the NCAA Tournament in just his second season at the helm of the program. After two seasons, Cunningham's record stands at 28-6-4 overall.

Von Sternberg earned First Team All-State honors after earning Second Team All-ODAC and ODAC Rookie of the Year honors. She started 20 of the team's 22 games and finished third on the team in scoring with 26 points on 10 goals and six assists.

Hayde earned honorable mention honors after garnering Second Team All-ODAC laurels. She helped solidify the W&L defense which allowed an average of just 0.65 goals per game.

Christopher Newport's Natalie Stallings was named the VaSID Player of the Year.
