LEXINGTON, Va. -- The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) announced its 2002 Scholar All-America team and Washington and Lee claimed one of the 22 members on the team in senior midfielder John Moore (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll).
The award recognizes senior lacrosse players that have a
cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher and have been named
to one All-America team or have been chosen to participate in the
North-South Senior All-Star game. The players, from Division I, II
and III schools, will be honored at the annual Lacrosse
All-American dinner on June 7, at 7:00 pm, in Hunt Valley, Md.
Moore, a computer science major, was selected to participate in the USILA North-South game after amassing 37 points on 24 goals and 13 assists during the 2002 season. He ended his career with 52 goals and 26 assists for 78 points.
Washington and Lee finished the 2002 season with a 14-4 overall record and a No. 5 ranking in the final USILA Division III poll. The Generals claimed the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Semifinals before falling to eventual national runner-up Gettysburg College.
