ALBANY, N.Y. -- Washington and Lee senior men's lacrosse player Matt Dugan (Rockaway, N.J./Mountain Lakes) was presented with the Jack Turnbull Award at the STX/USILA All-American Banquet on June 8 in Albany, N.Y.
The Turnbull Award is presented annually to the top attackman in Divisions I, II and III. Syracuse's Mike Powell received the Division I award, while Limestone's Nick Carlson received the Division II Award.
Dugan led the Generals in scoring with 63 points on 38 goals and 25 assists. He broke the W&L and ODAC career scoring records during the season (290 pts.) and also set a new W&L record for career goals (182). Dugan was named First Team All-ODAC and First Team All-American by 360Lacrosse.com and the USILA earlier this year.
Nazareth midfielder Eric Goodberlet was presented with the Iroquois Nation Award as the Division III Player of the Year and Gettysburg head coach Hank Janczyk was named the Division III Coach of the Year.
Washington and Lee finished the 2001 season with a 14-1 overall record, 5-1 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The Generals were ranked third in the final USILA Division III poll.
