DUGAN, HACKNEY AND HAYS TO PLAY IN NORTH-SOUTH GAME

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee senior men's lacrosse players Matt Dugan (Rockaway, N.J./Mountain Lakes), Pope Hackney (Richmond, Va./St. Christopher's) and Wes Hays (Pasadena, Md./Loyola) have been selected to participate in the North-South All-Star game held June 9 at Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute (RPI) in Troy, N.Y.

Dugan, an attackman, earned First Team All-ODAC honors this season after leading the team in scoring with 63 points on 38 goals and 25 assists. He graduates as the W&L and ODAC leader in career points with 290 points on 182 goals and 108 assists. His 182 goals are also a W&L career record. Dugan was a First Team All-America selection last season.

Hackney, a midfielder, was named the ODAC Player of the Year in 2001 after notching 37 goals and 13 assists for 50 points. Hackney, also a 2000 First Team All-America selection, graduates with 112 goals and 48 assists for 160 career points.

Hays, a goalie, garnered Second Team All-ODAC honors this season after posting the top goals-against average in Division III (4.91). He also ranked 17th in the nation in save percentage (.647). He earned Honorable Mention All-America honors following the 2000 season.

Washington and Lee finished its 2001 season with a 14-1 overall record and a No. 3 ranking in the final USILA Division III poll.
