LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee senior wrestler Josh Chamberlain (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) was named to the 2000-01 Verizon Men's College Division Fall/Winter Academic All-America squad on Thursday afternoon as voted on by members of the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America. He was a third-team selection.
Chamberlain holds a 3.89 GPA with a major in philosophy. The 149-pounder finished his senior season with a record of 19-11 overall and placed second at the W&L Invitational. He also took third place at the Newport News Apprentice Invitational and the Centennial Conference Tournament. He ended his career with a 62-44 overall record.
Earlier this year, Chamberlain was named a Division III Academic All-American by the National Wrestling Coaches Association of America for the third consecutive season.
A two-time honoree at the All-District level, Chamberlain was selected from a pool of athletes from across the nation in 10 varsity sports. He was the only student-athlete from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and the state of Virginia to be honored on either the first, second, or third teams.
