CHAMBERLAIN AND MORSE EARN ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN LAURELS
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee senior 149-pounder Josh Chamberlain (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) and junior 197-pounder Ezra Morse (Central Point, Ore./Crater) both were named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association of America Division III Academic All-America team on Monday afternoon. W&L also finished 15th in the Top 20 Scholar Teams in Division III with an overall team GPA of 3.062.
Chamberlain, a tri-captain, earns his third-straight selection to the team after finishing the season at 19-11 overall. In addition, Chamberlain has maintained a 3.895 GPA. He placed second at the W&L Invitational and third at the Newport News Apprentice Invitational and the Centennial Conference Tournament. He led W&L with 19 three-point near falls and scored 34 takedowns and nine reversals which were both second on the team. He ended his career with a 62-44 overall record.
Morse finished his season at 20-3 overall and holds a 3.264 GPA. He placed second at the conference tournament and also posted an 11-1 dual meet record, 4-1 in the Centennial. Morse led the squad in takedowns (37) and pins (7). He also claimed first-place honors at the V.M.I. and Scranton Invitationals, while placing second at the Newport News Apprentice Invite.
