LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee senior wrestler Josh Chamberlain (Richmond, Va./Mills Godwin) was selected to the 2000-01 Men's College Division Fall/Winter Verizon Academic All-District squad on Thursday afternoon as voted on by members of the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America.
Chamberlain holds a 3.89 GPA with a major in philosophy. The 149-pounder finished his senior season with a record of 19-11 overall and placed second at the W&L Invitational and third at the Newport News Apprentice Invitational and the Centennial Conference Tournament. Chamberlain also scored 34 takedowns and nine reversals which were both second on the team. He ended his career with a 62-44 overall record.
Earlier this month, Chamberlain was named a Division III Academic All-American by the National Wrestling Coaches Association of America for the third consecutive season.
The District III team is composed of 11 members from throughout the southeastern United States. Emory University placed three selections on the team, while North Florida had two selections. With his selection to the All-District Team, Chamberlain is automatically entered into consideration for Academic All-American status.
