W&L MEN'S SOCCER EARNS ODAC HONORS

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference released its all-conference men's soccer team on Monday afternoon and Washington and Lee placed five players on the team and took the Co-Rookie and Coach of the Year awards.

Freshman midfielder Philip Miller (Kingwood, Texas/Kingwood) was named ODAC Co-Rookie of the Year, while Head Coach Rolf Piranian was selected as ODAC Coach of the Year.

Sophomore goalkeeper Tim Foley (Darnestown, Md./Georgetown Prep), junior fullback Paul Wallace (Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry) and junior forward Andrew Grimes (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay) all earned first-team honors, while sophomore fullback Paul Negron (Massapequa Park, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) and Miller were named the All-ODAC second team.

Miller has tallied nine goals and five assists for 23 points in his freshman campaign. He scored five game-winning games, including the gameÍs only goal in the ODAC Tournament Championship game against Virginia Wesleyan.

Piranian was awarded the coach of the year award for the sixth time. He has led the W&L (18-1) to a school record for wins in a season as well as most consecutive wins (11).

Wallace scored the game-winner in overtime to give the Generals a 2-1 victory over Guilford in the ODAC Tournament quarterfinals. Negron tallied one assist to bring his career total to one goal and two assists.
