W&L MEN'S SOCCER EARNS TOP SEED IN NCAA SOUTH REGIONAL
LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee men's soccer team has earned the top seed in the NCAA Division III South Regional that begins on Wednesday. The 44-team field was announced late Sunday evening and the Generals received a first-round bye. W&L will take on the winner of the Bethany-Frostburg State (Md.) game on Saturday night at 6:00 pm.
The semifinal and final rounds will be played in Newport News, Va., on the campus of Christopher Newport University.
Christopher Newport was awarded the second seed and will also receive a first round bye. Greensboro earned the number three seed, followed by Bethany, Frostburg State and ODAC runner-up Va. Wesleyan. The Generals defeated Va. Wesleyan on Saturday, 1-0, to claim the ODAC title.
Washington and Lee (18-1) has set school records for wins in a season and is currently riding a school record 11-game winning streak.
