W&L's BURKE DUNCAN SET TO COMPETE AT NCAA CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee sophomore cross country runner Burke Duncan (Oklahoma City, Okla./Casady) is set to compete in the NCAA Division III National Cross Country Championships in Spokane, Wash., this Saturday afternoon.
Duncan qualified for the NCAA National meet after placing seventh of 138 competitors at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional held last weekend in Newport News, Va. Duncan, who placed second at the ODAC Championships, crossed the tape with a season-best time of 18:45. As a team, Washington and Lee finished fifth of 21 teams at the meet.
Duncan is the first W&L women's cross country runner to qualify for nationals since Josephine Schaeffer won the regional meet and placed ninth at the national competition in 1995.
