Washington and Lee University has named Brian Laubscher as its new sports information director. Laubscher will oversee the publicity efforts for Washington and Lee's 21-sport NCAA Division III athletic program and will begin his duties immediately.
Laubscher comes to W&L from Lafayette College where he spent the 1997-98 school year as an athletic communications assistant. At Lafayette, Laubscher assisted with the promotion of the school's 23-sport NCAA Division I program and had direct responsibilities for the Leopards' baseball, women's basketball, field hockey, golf, swimming and diving, tennis, indoor track and volleyball programs.
Prior to his time at Lafayette, Laubscher served as an intern at James Madison University and with the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and also served as a graduate assistant at California University of Pennsylvania. Laubscher has also worked as a sports reporter for the Lock Haven Express and Valley Independent newspapers in Pennsylvania.
Laubscher is a 1995 graduate of Slippery Rock University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in sport management. Laubscher is a native of Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania.
