Princeton, N.J. -- For the second-straight year, the Washington and Lee University women's tennis team earned All-Academic Team honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
The Generals were among 18 Division III teams cited by the ITA for producing a team grade-point average above 3.2.
"I'm very proud of the team," said W&L head women's tennis coach Cinda Rankin. "The players have done an outstanding job of maintaining very good academic standing while managing their time between athletic interests and their academic priorities. They certainly deserve this award."
Other institutions receiving the award were Allegheny, Case Western Reserve, Chapman, Emory, Gustavus Adolphus, Hardin-Simmons, Hendrix, Luther, Nebraska Wesleyan, Ohio Wesleyan, Pomona and Pitzer, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Rochester, St. Olaf, Cal-San Diego, Vassar, and Wellesley.
Last season, the Generals finished 17-4 overall, 10-0 in the ODAC, claiming their eighth-straight ODAC Championship. They also advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth season in a row, reaching the quarterfinals and finishing the season ranked 8th nationally.
