FOREST, Va. – The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced that Washington and Lee senior Tom Concklin (Hinsdale, Ill. / Hinsdale Central) and junior Mary-Frances Hall (State Road, N.C. / Elkin) have been named the ODAC Baseball Pitcher and Women’s Golfer of the Week for the week ending April 9.
Concklin was named the ODAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week after winning his lone start, a 3-1 victory over top-ranked Shenandoah on Wednesday. Working on just three days' rest, Concklin needed only 76 pitches to hold the Hornets to five hits and one run across 7.0 innings.
Concklin had one strikeout and did not walk a batter against an offense that came into the game with a .339 team batting average. Concklin is 6-1 in nine starts this year and lowered his season ERA to 2.62.
Hall was recognized as the ODAC Women’s Golfer of the Week after recording a second-place finish out of 63 competitors at the Callaway Spring Invitational held at the Bryan Park Players Course in Browns Summit, N.C., last Monday and Tuesday.
Hall shot a +4 score of 74-74—148, five strokes behind individual champion Johnna Beehner of Methodist and three shots clear of the third-place finisher, Briana Morris, also of Methodist. As a team, the 18th-ranked Generals finished third out of 12 teams with a two-day total of 309-317—626 (+50).
For the season, Hall ranks third in the ODAC and second on the team with a 78.1 stroke average across 14 rounds. She also ranks 35th in Division III.
The W&L baseball team returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Guilford for a doubleheader starting at 12:00 pm. The women’s golf team will play again on April 23-25 when it takes part in the ODAC Championship held at the Wintergreen Resort.
