W&L Names Danielle Davis Assistant Athletic Trainer
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced the appointment of Danielle Davis as assistant athletic trainer. Davis will begin her appointment on Monday, August 4.
“We are excited to have Danielle on board as a member of our athletic training staff,” said Head Athletic Trainer Josh Williamson. “She is highly qualified and heavily recommended and will be a great addition to our staff which strives to provide quality care for our athletes. Danielle will only serve to enhance that mission.”
Davis has served as a full-time outreach athletic trainer for the Carilion Clinic in Roanoke since last August. In this role, she was the head athletic trainer for William Byrd High School.
"I'm really excited to work with Josh, the athletic training staff and the Washington and Lee student-athletes," said Davis. "The W&L athletic department is such a well run and positive environment and I can't wait to get started."
Prior to her time with Carilion and William Byrd, Davis was a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the University of Alabama from 2011-13, earning a master of arts in health studies.
While at Alabama, she worked with the volleyball team, while also providing additional coverage for softball, baseball, swimming, women’s rowing and women’s basketball.
Davis’ experiences also include providing per diem athletic training coverage at VMI over the 2013-14 school year, serving as an intern athletic trainer at Villanova University during the 2010-11 school year and providing coverage as an athletic training student assistant at West Chester University from 2008-10.
Davis graduated from West Chester in 2010 with a bachelor of science in athletic training. She is a NATA Board Certified Athletic Trainer with a license to practice in Virginia. She is also certified in CPR, AED and First Aid from the American Heart Association.
