SOMERS, Wis. – The Washington and Lee men's and women's swimming teams are both ranked in the initial Endless Pools/CollegeSwimming.com Division III Top 25 poll, which was released on Wednesday.
The men received 298.4 points to rank in 21st in the nation, while currently holding a 2-1 record. In the Generals' season-opener, they defeated Centre, 153.5-108.5, but fell to No. 9 Mary Washington on October 18th, 167.5-94.5. W&L has also taken down Randolph-Macon, 149.5-112.5, in the first month of competition.
The women are ranked 12th in the country after receiving 392.6 points. The Generals hold a 3-1 record, with their only loss coming to No. 11 Mary Washington, 139-123. W&L has collected wins against Centre, 161-101, and Randolph-Macon, 167-88, while taking first out of nine teams at the ODAC Relays. First-years Elisabeth Holmes (Raleigh, N.C. / Needham B. Broughton) and Emily Rollo (Haddonfield, N.J. / Haddonfield Memorial) each were named ODAC Swimmers of the week this season. Holmes also picked up the weekly honor for the Bluegrass Mountain Conference.
The men's and women's swimming teams return to the pool on Friday, when they travel to Charlotte, N.C., to compete in the Wingate Invitational at the Mecklenburg Aquatic Center.
