The 2017-18 season will mark the 12th year as assistant athletic trainer at Washington and Lee for Matt Phillips.
Phillips received a master of science degree in heath and movement science from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2006 and he served as the head athletic trainer at George Wythe High School during this time. His primary responsibilities were with football, men and women’s basketball teams and the baseball team.
A native of Forest, Va., Phillips graduated cum laude from Lynchburg College in 2004 with a bachelor of science in athletic training. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA), the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Trainers Association, and the Virginia Athletic Trainers Association. He is also certified in First Aid and CPR.
